// Invitations // Let’s be honest invitations are a guest first impression of a party. So for me I like to theme my holiday gatherings around something. A few great ideas are: An Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, Winter Wonderland or A Holiday Great Gatsby theme. Not sure about a theme? You can also go with a dress code: casual, cocktail party or fancy cocktail sit down. Whatever you want to choose a theme or a dress it will dictate the vibe of your party and allows you to plan details from there.

// Signature Cocktail Drink // I truly believe that every holiday gathering should have a signature drink of some sort. They can be as simple or as hard as you want them to be, but it really does help people get into the holiday spirit. A few of my favorite holiday cocktails are:

// Food Menu // When it comes to holiday gatherings I like to keep things very light and conversational, unless I am planning on doing a solid formal sit-down dinner. For me gatherings are more like social hours for people to mix and mingle – plus it is less stress. For I tend to stick to things like cheese boards, crostinis, finger foods. This year for my holiday gathering I am thinking the following appetizers spread:

// Decor // Decor is something that people tend to get a big hung up on. But when it comes to holiday entertaining tips- decor is one of those things that you can keep simple or go all out. Let’s be honest most of us have a beautiful holiday tree as the focal point so you can semi plan decor around that. I love dressing the tables with strands of garland, a few pinecones, some faux cranberry clusters, and of course holiday trees and candle light. But you can do just about anything when it comes to decor based on your theme and keep as simple of as complex as you wish.

// Music + Playlist // When it comes to holiday gatherings one of the biggest holiday entertaining tips is a great playlist. For the holidays you can pretty go anyway you want. You can go as hard core Christmas as you want, or keep it more Vitamin C String Quartet – totally your choice. I tend to love to make a playlist and for holiday gatherings here are a few of my favorite songs ranging from old classics to new holiday cheerful music.
