How to Create The Perfect New Years Eve Tablescape
Creating a festive and stylish tablescape for New Year’s Eve can set the tone for a memorable celebration. You what they say – “how you start the New Year sets the tone for the rest of the year”! So why not do something fabulous and amazing. Below are some ideas to help you design a stunning New Year’s Eve tablescape:
// CHOOSE A COLOR SCHEME // As discussed in my previous tablescape for the holidays, a color scheme or theme is important. For New Year’s Eve I keep it simple and always tend to go for a more sophisticated color palette that usually is integrated with metallics and mixed metals – this gold, silver, copper or rose gold. I also like to incorporate black, charcoal grey or even navy to help make it a more classic and elegant look. You can also add pops of color with deep jewel tones like emerald green or royal blue – to make it a bit more vibrant, lively with a sexy flair.
// ADD A TABLE RUNNER FOR SOME TEXTURE // Who doesn’t love a great table runner? For New Year’s Eve since I keep it super mixed metals with a side of elegance – I am opting for a black textured table running. You can go for various vibes with your table runner like:
- Go for a Luxurious Vibe with a solid color or a subtle pattern.
- Go for a Glamorous Vibe with a sequined or metallic fabric
Whichever you prefer, you can also layer a table runner in a contrasting color or pattern down the center of the table for added visual interest.
// ADD HEIGHT WITH YOUR CENTER OF TABLE // I love to add height to my tablescape for NYE with a little bit of candles in various heights. I have tall candles on little silver holders and some votive candles in various height for a warm intimate glow. You can also create a stunning centerpiece with candles, tall candlesticks, florals, etc… I like to incorporate reflective surfaces in metallics to help try to enhance the NYE sparkle.
// TABLEWARE, FLATWARE, GLASSWARE AND NAPKINS // For this tablescape I love, love, love utilizing our gold flatware. I think for a New Year’s Eve tablescape using flatware with metallic finishes like gold, nickel, bronze help add to a sophisticated look. For our charger plates I always add for a great gold or silver to give you that sparkle with a side of opulence while keeping the rest of the dinnerware very neutral for this we used black for most of the dinnerware with a cream salad plate. I also opted for crystal glassware for our champagne flutes and colored glassware for our water glasses to add a pop of sophistication to the overall theme. For napkins we kept it very simple with a coordinating color of white tying in the salad plate. To add a extra touch each napkin is folded and has a sparkle NYE ball for that extra touch.
// NEW YEAR’S EVE ACCESSORIES // When it comes to easy New Year’s Eve tablescape accessories you can go with just about anything. I usually opt for scattered metallic confetti or small metallic beads on the table to help give for a celebratory atmosphere to keep it simple yet elegant. For this tablescape I scattered metallic ball touches to the table to give it a “the ball is dropping at midnight” vibe. You can also always add some super NYE themed accessories like mini party hats, countdown clocks or noisemakers to the decor.
// ADD FESTIVE LIGHTING // This is totally optional but I like to sometimes depending on the location and lighting of our New Year’s Eve party add a little festive lighting. You can add things like string lights, fairy lights or in this case candles in decorative holders to help create a celebratory vibe and style.
New Year’s Eve Menu Inspiration
When it comes to planning a New Year’s Eve menu you can go multiple ways. You can do an elegant sit down, coursed out meal or keep it simple with appetizers, small bites and boards. I like to opt for the small bites, boards and appetizers idea when we have a larger party- because it makes it very easy, lively and doesn’t tie you down to the table all night. Instead you can mix and mingle around your party. If you have under 10 people then sometimes the sit-down, coursed out meal is a better idea so everyone can converse, reminisce and enjoy the last moments of this year.
