8 OTP Restaurants That Are Absolutely Worth the Drive from Atlanta
Atlanta is a phenomenal food city ā but some of the best meals I have ever had happened the moment I crossed the perimeter. Georgia has a full restaurant landscape that extends well beyond the city, and for anyone willing to make the drive, the payoff is real. These are the spots that have earned a permanent spot in my dining rotation, not because of hype, but because they delivered something genuinely memorable.
OTP dining has changed significantly in the past few years. What was once a landscape of chain restaurants and strip mall fare has given way to chef-driven concepts, farm-to-table kitchens, and neighborhood gems that punch well above their weight. The chefs opening restaurants outside the perimeter are doing so intentionally ā and the food reflects that.
Whether you are planning a day trip, a Sunday drive with a reservation at the end of it, or a scouting trip for a private Supper Club dinner, this list is your guide. Every restaurant on it has passed the only test that matters: I would go back. For more ideas by neighborhood, see my restaurants to visit in Roswell and restaurants to visit in Vinings and Smyrna.
01-Frankieās The Steakhouse ā Duluth, GA
Why itās worth the drive:
Itās timeless, refined, and incredibly consistentāwhich, to me, is what truly defines a great steakhouse. From the moment you walk in, thereās an immediate sense of occasion. The lighting is warm, the service is attentive without being overbearing, and everything feels intentional.
What really sets Frankieās apart is the attention to detail. The tableside serviceāespecially the Caesar saladāis one of those small touches that elevates the entire evening. It slows things down in the best way and makes dinner feel like an experience rather than just a reservation. 04-Ocean & Acre ā Alpharetta, GA
Why itās worth the drive:
Everything about Ocean & Acre feels light, coastal, and intentionally relaxed, but still polished enough to feel like a true night out. The patio is really what makes this place special for me. When the weather is right, it completely transforms the experience. Thereās something about sitting outside with a seafood-forward menu and a crisp drink in hand that instantly feels like an escape. Itās airy, social, and just the right amount of elevated.
The menu leans into that same feelingāfresh seafood, well-executed classics, and dishes that are flavorful without feeling heavy.

05- Rootstock Restaurant & Bar ā Woodstock, GA
Why itās worth the drive:
Rootstock has that rare balanceāit feels lively and fun without losing that elevated touch, the rooftop alone makes it worth the drive. This space is how it evolves throughout the evening. Earlier in the night, itās relaxed and perfect for catching up over drinks and small plates. As the night goes on, the energy buildsāespecially with live musicāand it turns into one of those places you end up staying longer than you planned.
The menu is designed for sharing, which naturally makes the experience more interactive. Itās not about ordering one dishāitās about layering flavors, trying a little bit of everything, and letting the table feel abundant without being overwhelming. That same spirit of gathering is why I hosted the Eating With Erica Supper Club at Fellows Cafe in Roswell.

06- Elevation Chophouse ā Kennesaw, GA
Why itās worth the drive:
Elevation Chophouse is one of those places that feels completely unexpected in the best way. Youāre enjoying a full steakhouse experience while watching planes take off just steps away, and somehow it all works beautifully. The atmosphere is what really sets the tone. Itās relaxed, welcoming, and a little more casual than a traditional steakhouse, which makes it easy to enjoy without overthinking it. And then thereās the viewāespecially at sunsetāwhen the sky shifts colors and the runway adds that extra layer of energy to the experience.
The food holds its own. The steaks are well-executed, the portions are generous, and the menu stays true to those classic chophouse staples you actually want when youāre in the mood for something hearty and satisfying.

Itās lively without being overwhelming, colorful without feeling chaotic, and welcoming in a way that immediately puts you at ease. Why itās worth the drive:
Spring is one of those rare restaurants that feels both incredibly refined and deeply personal at the same time. But what I love most is that it never feels intimidating. Itās quiet, intimate, and grounded in a way that makes the entire experience feel approachable.
The menu is entirely seasonal, which means itās always evolving based on whatās available and at its peak. Thereās a strong sense of respect for ingredients hereāyou can taste the care in every dish.
