New Year’s Eve at Beau Rivage

Last year, my New Year’s Eve was terrible.  The food wasn’t the best and the lines for drinks were too.  It was a total waste of a good dress.

This year, my fiancé and I were elated when we had the opportunity to partner with Beau Rivage Casino and Resort located in Biloxi, Mississippi.  It’s only a two-hour flight or a six-hour drive from Atlanta.  I assure you that you won’t mind the drive.  However, we opted to fly.  When we arrived, we were treated to car service courtesy of BLS Limo Transportation.  The hotel is less than 30 minutes from the Gulfport–Biloxi International Airport. When you visit Beau Rivage Casino and Resort, I highly suggest that you go for the full VIP experience.  I  promise you that it’s worth it.Photo Credit: Beau Rivage

We began our trip checking in at the VIP lounge.  We were greeted to a smiling hostess and bubbly champagne.  The VIP lounge is open during business hours and offers coffee, soft drinks, and light snacks throughout the day.  After checking in, we headed to our room.  We loved our 400-square foot deluxe king room.  Our room had a beautiful view of the water.  We arrived at the perfect time because it was right at sunset.  It was amazingly gorgeous.  I love a bathroom with an oversized bathtub.  Our bathroom offered just that along with a separate shower area and beautiful Italian marble floors.

Our first night for dinner we dined at BR Prime.  This ritzy steakhouse offers everything you need for an ideal dinner.  BR Prime offers first-class service, phenomenal ambience, and an awesome menu. Dinner was nothing short of a true experience.  I love a great presentation.  So it was a no-brainer that I start dinner with a nitrogen martini, which was heavenly.  Next up were the appetizers.

We started dinner with succulent New Orleans-style barbeque Gulf shrimp. When you visit, this is definitely a must-try because the shrimp and all of their seafood is so fresh.  It had just the right amount of spice.  Next, compliments of the chef, we were treated to the most spectacular Alaskan king crab tableside.  This was an experience that I will never forget.  I love king crab legs, but I hate fighting with my food. During this tableside service, the server removed the shell from the crab legs.  All I had to do was enjoy crab meat and hot butter.

When it comes to steak, BP Prime has a PhD in steakology, if that’s such a word.  Put it like this:  they really know their stuff when it comes to steak.  I ordered a 6-ounce filet topped with Roaring Forties Australian Blue Cheese, and my fiancé ordered the 20-ounce Porterhouse topped with sautèed crab meat.  Since it is the weekend of the new year, I decided to treat myself to a Grand Marnier soufflé.  It was so filling.  I liked that it wasn’t too sweet.  Huge thanks to Barret and his team.  Dinner was a dream!  After dinner, we hit the casino.

On the morning of the New Year’s Eve, we decided that champagne for breakfast was the way to go after a long night.  I ordered the salmon eggs Benedict topped with black truffles served with asparagus.  I could eat this dish for the rest of my years.  The English muffin was so soft, and the smoked salmon was delicious.

Each vacation has to include some spa time.  The spa at Beau Rivage is imceepable.  It is the definition of serenity and true relaxation.  I was treated to a signature massage with hot stones. Anglea, my masseuse, really worked on my lower neck and back, and it felt incredible. The spa offers a sauna, steam room, and lounging area.  After leaving I felt like a million bucks. It was exactly what i needed to prep for New Year’s Eve.

For our New Year’s Eve dinner, we dined at Stalla, which is an amazing Italian restaurant.  The scallops are a must-try.  Served on top of mushroom risotto, the scallops were massive and prepared with excellence.  I had to try the shrimp and grits, and I’m so happy that I did. They were served with Gouda polenta.  It was so creamy.  The Gouda had such a bold flavor.

Courtney, the chef, treated our table to veal cheeks, and I devoured it up so quickly that I didn’t get a chance to snap a photo.  The veal was so tender because it was braised for over 10 hours.  We, then, stopped by the VIP reception.   The Beau Rivage sure knows how to throw a party. The decor was stunning, and the menu was insane!   They had a variety of stations set up for S’mores, smoked salmon, beef Wellington, and a dessert station.  And do not get me started about the the magnificent cheese.

We pregamed dancing, and we got out-danced by a 60-year couple with some serious dance moves.  (Seriously, they should have been on Dancing with the Stars).  After our final dinner and pregame of 2017, we headed to watch The Molly Ringwalds band.  I sang my heart out to 80s jams.  It was exhilarating to count down the old year to bring in the new year with the crowd and The Molly Ringwalds band.  Hello, 2018!

The next day I  had to start my year with the Beau Benedict. The Beau Benedict was absolutely divine. The Beau Benedict is far from your traditional egg Benedict. This Benedict is served with fresh maine lobster, perfectly poached eggs, asparagus, Béarnaise sauce and topped with black truffles.

If you can’t wait until next year to visit the Beau Rivage Casino and Resort, they have some incredible must see shows coming up featuring Rodney Carrington, Chaka Khan, Tim Allen, Mary J Blige, & Tiffany Haddish. I will make celebrating New Year’s Eve in Biloxi a tradition.
