Trust me when I say this – these are the BEST homemade garlic knots EVER! I am not even joking – they are that good! They are super simple to make – all you need is a few key ingredients:
- pizza dough ( I love store-bought dough cause it is easier and time saving)
- unsalted butter (melted)
- minced garlic cloves
- fresh herbs ( I like to use oregano, parsley and sometimes a 5 spiced Italian blend)
- Parmesan cheese
HOW TO CREATE THE PERFECT HOMEMADE GARLIC KNOTS
- Use a can of pizza dough rather than making your own. Canned pizza dough is easy to use, a super huge time saver and of course no rolling pins required!
- You can place a piece of parchment paper on your sheet pan to make clean up easier.
- The best part with these garlic knots is that you can freeze these knots and serve them up to three months later. The best way to do that is when you are ready to reheat them: You will place them frozen on a sheet pan and warm them in an oven at 350 degrees F for 12 to 15 minutes until they are crisp and delicious!
Homemade Garlic Knots
Ingredients
- 1 lb Pizza Dough store-bought or homemade about 450g
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped (optional)
- 1 tbsp fresh oregano chopped (optional)
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese grated
- Salt to taste
Instructions
**Preheat the Oven:**
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
**Prepare the Dough:**
- Dust a clean surface with flour.
- Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into strips, approximately 1 inch wide and 6-8 inches long.
**Form the Knots:**
- Take each strip of dough and tie it into a simple knot, tucking the ends underneath to secure it. You should end up with knots that resemble little bows.
**Bake the Knots:**
- Place the knots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between each knot.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
**Make the Garlic Butter:**
- While the knots are baking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to brown the garlic.
**Toss the Knots:**
- Once the knots are out of the oven, immediately brush them with the garlic butter mixture, ensuring each knot gets a generous coating.
**Sprinkle with Toppings:**
- While the knots are still warm, sprinkle them with grated Parmesan cheese, chopped fresh parsley (if using), and a pinch of salt to taste.
**Serve:**
- Serve your homemade garlic knots warm. They're perfect as an appetizer, side dish, or snack.
