We have officially been in our home for a year. We initially started planning early when it came to our home renovations. But when the pandemic occurred, it delayed our project. We decided to work on the exterior of the home by redoing our deck. During our deck renovation, we came across three hiccups. First, we went over budget. Our deck is 693 sq feet, but the contractor measured it as 593 sq feet. So you already know what that meant. We ran out of supplies and had to purchase more.

Second, since many people were home and still continue to stay home during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has led to more people to do more home renovations. What does that mean? Well, almost everyone was buying the wood that we needed for our deck. So when that occurred, that added extra days to the project. Last but not least, it rained for three days straight, which tacked on an extension of more time on the deck renovation than expected.
Needless to say, we love our new deck! It’s spacious, and we are thrilled with the results. If you decide to do a deck renovation, I highly suggest that you are patient and flexible. I am so elated that our next project will be to work on the inside of our home! We will be working with Tori of Farm House Chic. I can’t wait to show you all of the behind-the-scenes of this renovation. Make sure to follow me on Instagram and Pinterest: @eatingwitherica.
