Eating with Erica Philippines Supper Club: Big Fat Tummy Steak and Seafood
In March, an exciting opportunity arose—the chance to host the Eating With Erica Supper Club in Tagum City, Davao Del Norte, Philippines. In Tagum City, traditional Filipino dining involves family-style food served on platters, whereas fine dining is less common. Hosting coursed meals and elegant dining experiences required a balance between traditional Filipino dining and plated presentations. I am so delighted that we have expanded into the Philippines- this is the first of many Eating with Erica Supper Club experiences to come in the Philippines.
During the search for the perfect venue, Big Fat Tummy Steak and Seafood stood out. Located at Narra, Pan Pacific Highway, Agusan Road, Tagum City, the restaurant’s unique blend of Western and Asian fusion cuisine, inviting interior, and enticing menu offerings were captivating. The inclusion of wine on the menu, a rarity in the area, sealed the decision. A reservation was made for April 21st, a Sunday, perfect timing for the invited guests to enjoy dinner before the workweek began.
On the anticipated day, guests gathered at Big Fat Tummy Steak & Seafood at 5:30 PM. The restaurant, with its rustic American décor and warm hospitality, set the tone for an unforgettable evening. The meal began with a complimentary drink, followed by a four-course menu featuring a mix of Western and Filipino dishes. While the restaurant is renowned for its steak, the seafood dishes were equally impressive, catering to the Filipino love for seafood.
During the meal, a moment was taken to express gratitude to the attendees and to introduce the Eating with Erica Supper Club. The purpose of the club was highlighted, emphasizing that it is about more than just dining. It is about fostering friendships, supporting local businesses, and empowering each other. Seeing everyone connect, dine, and become friends in real life was a testament to the meaningful connections that can be made when stepping out of one’s comfort zone. The event allowed Filipinas to enjoy luxury within their own culture and tradition. Our goal at the Eating with Erica Supper Club is that we always empower women, transcending any limitations has come a long way and will continue to inspire others, enriching lives beyond measure. As we expand into various new places, cities and countries – we continue to strive forward with our goal to create community!
