Dinner With Happily Eating at Portico
Last night I had the chance to dine at Portico located in the Le Meridian Hotel. I went with my good friend, Milla. She is the food blogger of ‘Happily Eating.’ Although we branched outside of the Perimeter, the hotel is minutes from Downtown Atlanta. The hotel features 275 oversized guest rooms and suites. There is nothing I enjoy more than catching up with my friends, indulging in cocktails, and feasting on delightful cuisine.
I dined at Portico about a year ago and they now offer a new menu. But one thing that hasn’t changed is the space and decor. It is still gorgeous as ever. Milla and I kicked off our evening at Longitude 84. This lounge offers coffees, cocktails, and fine wines. Our bartender was very knowledgeable and he definitely knew how to prepare a delectable libation. What I found very unique was that Milla’s phone was about to die and they provided a portable charger. How cool! In today’s age of technology, I think it’s quite accommodating for most establishments to follow this trend. What I like most about Portico is the decor. It’s extremely modern and very inviting.
The dinner chef, Richard Flechter, was extremely hands on. While dining, he gave detailed insight about each dish and kept us wanting more. Each dish prepared not only was gorgeous in presentation, but was prepared to perfection as well.
Our first appetizer was charcuterie plate. I am a charcuterie junkie, so I was excited to see what was featured. This particular plate featured smoked trout, smoked snapper, and smoked salmon, which I loved. The fish was light and fresh. This just screamed summer-summer.
I love the grilled ribeye. It had a smokey flavor with great garlic and herbs seasoning. The salmon was served with beet ravioli. I’m loving this new beet trend, not only because of the bright fuchsia color, but because it’s tasty. I mean, who doesn’t like eating pretty food? But it was light and had a great zest to them.
The tiger shrimp was battered in tempura. The shrimp had a great crunch and was fresh. The only issue was I wanted more. The tuna tartar was very different. It was served with a layer of avocado, and the tartar was hidden under. I love tuna tartar and avocado, so this dish was a homerun for me!
With the holidays rapidly approaching, Portico would be a great place for holiday parties, Thanksgiving, and/or birthday dinners. Next time you’re in Dunwoody, stop by!
