THE RITZ-CARLTON, ATLANTA TO OPEN ATLANTA’S FIRST JITTERY JOE’S COFFEE SHOP
BELOVED ATHENS COFFEE DESTINATION DEBUTS IN LOBBY OF LUXURY DOWNTOWN HOTEL

ATLANTA, Ga. –The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta is unveiling plans to launch the city’s first Jittery Joe’s coffee shop in the hotel’s lobby on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. With nine locations in Athens and a reputation for extensive roasting expertise and the highest quality coffee beans, Jittery Joe’s has garnered national attention since first opening in Athens in 1994, and Atlanta residents can finally enjoy its unique brew and atmosphere within the comfort of The Ritz-Carlton. Each Jittery Joe’s outpost features custom décor that reflects the shop’s location; the Atlanta locale will complement the contemporary lobby atmosphere at The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta while displaying the beloved signature Jittery Joe’s chalkboard menus.

“Downtown Atlanta offers a rich history and personality, making the ideal destination for Atlanta’s first café,” says Bob Googe, CEO of Jittery Joe’s. “The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta shares our passion for crafting quality products and experiences for our guests.”

Jittery Joe’s at The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta will offer an array of coffee in light, medium and dark varieties; coffee beverages, pastries by 181 Sweets; and retail products including coffee beans and mugs. Open seven days a week, the coffee shop will debut a signature coffee blend called Eighty-Four Pour, a nod to the hotel’s grand opening in 1984, as well as a signature coffee drink named The Spicy Maple, each available exclusively at The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta Jittery Joe’s location. The Spicy Maple is a latte blend infused with pure maple syrup and a dash of cayenne, and will be offered this winter. 181 Sweets will also offer a signature Walnut Coffee Wheel, an homage to the southern classic “Gone with the Wind,” which premiered in Atlanta in 1939 and features a turning mill wheel in its opening credits.

“We’re excited to welcome Jittery Joe’s to Atlanta and to our hotel,” says Manuel Deisen, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta. “Our similar values emphasizing optimal quality and service make them the perfect addition to the hotel, and we look forward to working alongside the Jittery Joe’s team to provide our guests with an incomparable coffee experience.”

Jittery Joe’s coffee beans come from at least 18 different countries, and are micro-roasted in small batches to ensure maximal quality and care. Fifty percent of Jittery Joe’s coffee is direct trade, meaning the company’s “roast masters” hold long-standing relationships with farmers worldwide. Through these relationships, Jittery Joe’s possesses a direct impact on small-scale farmers in remote villages, ensuring these farmers earn better income, maintain their land and have the means to invest in producing quality coffee beans. The enterprise prides itself on its commitment to long-term sustainability.
