Interview With Tiffany Foxx
I had a chance to sit down with fellow foodie, Tiffany Foxx. With two months into 2014, Foxx has already started the year off strong. With her mix tape drop on February 14th and various magazines features. Foxx is sure own 2014. I wanted to chat with the goal digger about her upcoming plans for 2014 and, of course, food.
Q. Do you have a favorite chef?
A. Absolutely. It would have to be my grandma. She makes this smoothed chicken with tomato and green peppers over rice. That is my favorite. My second favorite chef would have to be Wolfgang Puck. He is very talented with his craft of cooking, and I love restaurants.
Q. Atlanta has tons of unbelievable restaurants. For the best dining experience. which three places would you recommend?
1. Blue Fin Sushi; 2. KuKi; 3. Houston’s/Ocean Prime
Q. Restaurant recommendations for St. Louis?
A. 1. Sweetie Pies; 2. The Grand; 3. Imeos
Q. Do you prefer to cook recipes or make reservations?
A. I am absolutely a woman who loves making reservations. I love dining. I am always on the go, so dining is a lot easier for me, because I don’t have a lot of time. I am 100% a foodie. I really don’t cook unless I am in a relationship. Men like home cooked meals. I am a great cook.
Q. If you were scheduled for the electric chair tomorrow, what would be your last meal?
A. My last meal would be French fries with seasoning season, French fries with sugar, French Fries with lemon pepper seasoning, lemon pepper wings with ranch dressing, and a fresh piece of sea bass.
Q. You have traveled throughout the world. If you had to choose a city/country that has the best food scene, what city would you choose?
A. I have visited some awesome places. When I took a trip to Dubai, I really liked the food scene. Italy was nice, but I am not a big fan of cheese, and most of those dishes are pasta based with cheese.
Q. What is your favorite foodie guilty pleasure?
A. There is a Chinese restaurant in St.Louis called the China Man. This restaurant is a must try. It’s one of St. Louis’ landmarks. It’s a location on almost every corner. If you visit the China Man, you have to try a Happy Box egg patty chicken fried rice. I make sure to have a soda with mine.
Q. You are in the spotlight and you have an amazing sense of style. Do you diet? If so, what are some tips you can give for keeping your body in shape?
A. I know my body like clock work. So I know when I need more water or when my body is carrying more water than normal. I know when I need to cut back on carbs. I naturally have a small waist and flat stomach, but I do work out to maintain it. I make sure to drink a lot of water. I have a no alcohol, no soda regimen. I will drink on occasion to celebrate, but I am not a drinker. And the only time I will have any soda is when I eat at the China Man. I really try to watch what I am putting in my body and eat healthy.
Q. It appears you have accomplished so much in such a small time frame. What are you are most proud of in your career so far?
A. The BET cypher has to be my proudest moment. For BET to accept me and for me to be apart of BET was huge. I was really excited. And for those who really know me, it takes a lot to get me excited, especially being in the entertainment industry. In the music industry you will get rejected. Some people don’t see your vision, and you learn not to get your hopes up, For an individual that is weak minded or that doesn’t have tough skin, the rejection will break them and cause them to give up on their dream. The rejection I have received so far in my career has truly motivated me. This was my first time gracing the stage of BET, and it was a moment I will never forget.
Q. I was extremely touched to see you volunteer at the women’s shelter. Do you do a lot of charity work? Do you have a non-profit organization?
A. I do have a St. Louis based non-profit called the Red Bottom Movement. It’s another play on words. Rather than wearing your heart on your sleeve, wear it on your shoes. I started this it about four years ago, and it is centered around unprivileged girls. Anytime charity is geared towards the elderly, young kids, and underprivileged girls, it will strike a soft spot in my heart. I do participate in a lot of charity events to help others. I don’t announce all of the charity work I do because it’s not about getting recognized for helping people. It’s about the actual act. I never mind giving a helping hand for a good cause.
Q. What can we expect to see from D.R.U.G.S 2014?
A. It’s still in progress [the website and the business]. I am a perfectionist it takes time to build a brand the way you want it. I want the quality and the business to be up to par.
Q. Kudos on the D.R.U.G.S clothing line. I see it everywhere. Why did you decide to launch the line?
A. I like to play on words. I am always turning negatives into positives. The direction I am going with D.R.U.G.S is catwalk meets sidewalk.
After interviewing Tiffany Foxx, I can say she has been one of the most professional, down to earth interviews I have come across. Her drive for success, her perfection for her project, and her overall down-to-earth personality made this interview easy.
