Social Cravings Event: Cooking With The Divas
Social Cravings Event: Cooking With The Divas
I was really excited when my good friend J Christopher invited me to cover his May Social Cravings event. Once a month, Social Cravings hosts an event focused on a celebrity chef and various celebrity guests. The guest and chef collaborate to prepare a dish and the audience is provided a tasting. The theme of this particular event was “cooking with the divas.” The divas featured were: R&B Divas Keke Wyatt, Braxtons Family Values Towanda Braxton, and Married to Medicine Toya Harris. The celebrity chefs featured were: Chef Mark Phillips (http://www.southerntemptation.com/html/about.html) and Clarence Ridgley. Food and Entertainment? This was definitely my type of event. The event was presented by Upscale Magazine (http://www.upscalemagazine.com/) , Courvoisier (http://courvoisier.com/us/lda/), KCE Bars (http://www.kcebars.com/), V103 (http://www.v103.com/main.html), and Buckhead Bottle Bar & Bistro (http://buckheadbottlebarandbistro.com/).

The first diva and chef to cook was Towanda Braxton and Chef Mark Phillips. I have known Chef Phillips for a while, and I am a regular at Buckhead Bottle Bar. He never ceases to amaze me with his incredible ability to bring out zestful flavors in his dishes. The dish prepared was salmon with a grit cake. The salmon was full of robust flavor and I wanted more. Chef Phillips and Towanda were a great team, they engaged the audience and kept the conversation entertaining and fun. The next diva up was Toya Harris and Chef Clarence Ridley. I was thrilled because I am a huge fan of Chef Ridley’s cooking. I was a little apprehensive to see Toya’s segment because of the way her character was portrayed on Bravo’s “Married to Medicine.” Needless to say, she was very sweet and full of energy. I made it a point to chat with her after the event and learned she has a great sense of humor. Chef Ridley prepared an appetizing Korean taco. The taco was stuffed with Kobe beef, red cabbage, shredded carrots, and topped with Courvoisier sauce. It was a little piece of heaven in a shell. Below are the pictures from their segment.

Chef Phillips’ final guest was KeKe Wyatt. I have been a huge fan of Keke since I heard the song, “My First Love” featuring Avant. Her personality on R&B Divas has always tickled me so I was pretty thrilled to see how she would interact with the crowd and Chef Phillips. Needless to say, she was hilarious, had tons of personality, and no one wanted her segment to end. For Chef Phillips final dish he prepared a dessert that was a perfect end to an evening of tasty treats.
