If You Haven’t Dined At Grain…Your Missing Out…
I am really excited about patio weather and spring menus. And as the weeks progress into warmer weather, my to-do list of places to dine is just getting warmed up! This evening, I stopped by a new restaurant, GRAIN. Located in Midtown on Spring Street, this fine establishment has been open for approximately four months.
I love how GRAIN is very intimate, and you will notice this visual intimacy as soon as you walk in. The decor is dark wood, the lighting is dim, and there are tons of smiling faces and drinks flowing. Walking in, I immediately thought this would be an ideal spot for a first date, or a girls night out pre-party. And if you’re looking for a late bite to eat, you’re in luck because this restaurant is open until 3 a.m. Mondaythrough Saturday.
I know one thing is for sure: This summer, GRAIN is going to be my go-to spot for oysters and cocktails. If I lived any closer to where it’s located, this would definitely be my “Cheers!” for sure!
This particular evening, I had a blast meeting with Chef Sydney and mixologist, John. I learned about the restaurant, and tried some of the following menu items:
Oysters — East and West Coast oysters. The oysters that were from the West Coast were from Washington State. They were a bit salty and briny, but yet, enjoyable. The East Coast oysters had a very surprising taste. They were very earthy with a truffle aftertaste. Make sure you pair these oysters with a glass of Txakolina. It’s a wine that is very light and has a slight salty taste, but goes perfectly with the oysters.
Deviled Eggs
These deviled eggs started out as a joke. The chef was suppose to order a certain amount of eggs, but doubled arrived. So, of course, he added deviled eggs to the menu for the win. But they are so tasty that they are not even a joke.
Fried Green Tomatoes
Seasoned with cracked black pepper, marinaded in a champagne, and then dusted with flour buttermil, these babies are fried to perfection and served with a fresh crawfish sauce. When the fried green tomatoes first arrived at our table, I assumed that the mousse was goat cheese, but, boy, was I wrong. It was horseradish mousse. It was so light and delish!
The basil margarita cocktail is made with all-natural fruit juices and products. It was ever so crisp and smooth. No matter what your preference may be, the drink menu has something for everyone.
You will thank me when you finally visit GRAIN.
Bon Appetite
