Double Cross Vodka
Everyone who knows me knows that when it comes to spirits, I am a hardcore white liquor drinker. I have recently been obsessed with Double Cross Vodka.
Double Cross Vodka is a brand of vodka produced in the Slovak Republic. Double Cross founders, Malcolm Lloyd and John Gellner, reserached and saw that there were few, if any, luxury goods from Slovakia in the U.S. These two gentlemen also noticed that there were few vodka brands in the price range set for Double Cross. (Double Cross is topshelf, and on average, the price is
$36 per bottle.)
Lloyd and Gellner put in over three years of research and development into their liquor while also touring distilleries throughout eastern Europe to find Jan Krak, a master distiller in Slovakia near the Polish border. According to its producers, Double Cross is seven-times distilled and seven-times filtered and made using locally-grown winter wheat and mountain spring water sourced from 200-foot deep aquifers.
The distillery that produces Double Cross is located in the town Stará Ľubovňa. Double Cross is the only vodka in history to win double gold medals at the ultra-prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition for both its taste and packaging.
Critics, Paul Pacault and Anthony Dias Blue, both gave it rave reviews, while Wine Enthusiast gave it an almost unheard of for vodka, 95. Wine Enthusiast gave Double Cross a rare 95-point “Highly Recommended” review, and also included Double Cross in its selection of “Top 50 Spirits from 2009.
If you are giving a bottle of vodka as a gift, it should be Double Cross! This awesome bottle can be engraved, which is an awesome option for birthdays and holidays.
Overall, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that if you like top shelf premium vodka, the only choice is Double Cross.
