Stephan, a good friend of mine, asked me to stop by and visit him at Tail Feathers Piano Bar,a new restaurant he is currently marketing. The restaurant is conveniently located on Roswell Road and I agreed to stop by. At first, it was difficult to find because my GPS sent me in an aimless circle for about 15 minutes. The restaurant doesn’t have a sign which made it more difficult (I spoke with the owner the sign will be up very soon). If and when you do visit Tail Feathers, it’s located in the back of the shopping plaza next door to the dental office and barber shop. After being slightly frustrated, I parked and walked in. When I walked in I was blown away. The inside is gorgeous from the turquoise walls to the long while curtains, the decor and the lighting is impeccable. While visiting the restaurant I made sure to view it and its entirety. There is a lot of space and a private dining area, which would be a ideal for a private birthday party or any intimate gathering. I happen to visit on a Thursday night which showcased a live band. The singer is incredible and band is beyond talented.
The menu is impressive and didn’t let me down. I ordered the Pan Seared Breast of Duck. This entrée was a succulent pan-seared breast of duck presented with a fresh black berry coulis served with garlic mash. The flavoring and the tenderness of the duck made the meal spectacular. I paired the duck with a glass of Coastal Vines Cabernet and I was a happy camper. Great music, wonderful wine, and magnificent food. After speaking with the helpful staff they informed me they would be having their grand opening on Sunday and invited me to attend. I gladly accepted.
I went back to this restaurant twice in a one week. The brunch menu looked tasty and I can’t think of a better way to spend my Sunday with mimosas, brunch and laughs with my friends. So that is exactly how I spent this particular Sunday. My friends loved the décor of Tail Feathers and the openess of the restaurant. Since it was Sunday Brunch all of the entrees were served with a complimentary mimosa. My friends ordered a variety of cocktails ranging from strawberry mimosas to Bellini’s. We ordered the following from the brunch menu:Shrimp & Grits, French Toast, and Chicken & Waffles. The shrimp and grits were good. The shrimp was tossed in a curry sauce and served over grits.
The French Toast consisted of two slices of French toast with a side of bacon. The Chicken & Waffles came with a red velvet waffle with crispy fried chicken wings. The Chicken was delish and fried to perfection. The waffle was too thick for my taste but the red velvet flavor was definitely there and added a unique experience to a common dish. Overall, my experience was a pleasant one at Tail Feathers. I will be returning and I would recommend my friends and readers to go and try it out. You will not be disappointed.
