The Perfect Apple Galette

If you have never had an Apple Galette before, it is actually SOOOOOO much easier than making an actual pie. An Apple Gazette is a french term that basically is equivalent to flat round or freeform crust like cakes.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 sheet sheet store-bought puff pastry thawed
  • 4 large apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • ½ cup sugar plus more for sprinkling
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg beaten- for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp butter cut into small pieces
  • Optional: vanilla bean ice cream, caramel cream sauce, brown sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Roll out the thawed puff pastry and transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Toss the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  • Arrange the apples on the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border. Fold the edges up and over the apples.
  • Brush the crust with egg wash, dot the apples with butter, and sprinkle with a little extra sugar.
  • Bake 20–25 minutes until puffed and golden and the apples are tender.
  • Cool a few minutes, then serve warm or at room temperature with ice cream and caramel cream sauce.
