The epitome of a neighborhood tavern, HOBNOB – now with a new location in Dunwoody – is knocking it out of the park when it comes to providing a home base for family and friends alike to enjoy elevated Southern fare in a warm and inviting atmosphere here in Atlanta. Located in Midtown, Brookhaven, and Dunwoody, HOBNOB is a casual destination.

We visited the new Perimeter Place location on a Thursday evening but by the looks of the dimly lit, welcoming open space, you surely would have thought it was at least already Friday. The place was poppin’! With a sizeable whiskey selection, craft beers galore, and even boozy milkshakes – who wouldn’t want to spend a Thursday night on the patio or around the picturesque bar?

We started our evening with cocktails to perfectly satisfy both of our tastes: the HOBNOB Lemon Basil Margarita and a HOBNOB Blueberry Mule, deliciously fun classics with a little twist.  While unwinding from the craziness that is rush hour, we eagerly opted to taste two of HOBNOB’s most recommended appetizers – Southern Spring Rolls and Spiced Seared Scallops. The spring rolls, made with smoked pork, collard greens, and bacon onion jam, were a true Southern twist on the traditional spring roll. And boy, were they tasty + refreshingly different! The Spiced Seared Scallops dusted with chipotle chili powder, minted h0neydew, and avocado relish were all things unique and zesty while tasting perfectly tender and full of flavor.

Once we worked up our appetites again and carefully thought about our choices – with extra help from our fearless server, Matt – we decided to try a “Tavern Speciality” as well as a burger off of the stellar HOBNOB burger menu. A health-conscious, gluten-free option, the Super Food Plate is the perfect choice if you’re looking for a nutritional option that will still be super tasty while dining out. Fire roasted cauliflower, mother nature salad, and roasted tomato stuffed with basil pesto and fresh mozzarella are elegantly presented in a way that will make you forget you even went with a “healthy option”. On the other hand, we had to try the mouth-watering, indulgent Triple B burger. Grass-fed beef topped with bacon, brie, pork belly, and strawberry aioli will have you wondering why you hadn’t already tasted this combination of deliciousness on a burger before – and it’ll have you thinking about the next time you can come back for more! Savory as ever with a sweet strawberry aioli touch, this burger was one for the books.

Somehow, someway, we had room left to taste a HOBNOB dessert trio curated by our server. You didn’t have to ask me twice! Let me tell you, HOBNOB knows how to satisfy a sweet tooth. Whether you want chocolate all the way or enjoy a fruitier option, HOBNOB has something for you. First, we tried the Chocolate Lover’s Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream and bourbon-basted cherries. I mean, what?! Seriously unreal. If you’re a lava cake enthusiast, this very well may be the best you’ve had, and if you’re not, you will be after this number. Absolutely decadent through and through, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Next, we tried the Limoncello Cheesecake, certainly living up to its description as “sunshine on a plate”. Flavorful and satisfying, this will clear your palate in the tastiest way. Lastly, we tried the ultimate original: HOBNOB Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream. Enough to satisfy your sweet tooth for a week or two, this is a one-of-a-kind cobbler. Pairing perfectly with vanilla ice cream, the warm berry cobbler is super sweet + fruity and perfect to share with a friend, or two.

A welcoming, neighborhood atmosphere is exactly what you will find here, and more. From beginning to end, the entire staff was visibly devoted to making each customer’s dining experience one to remember. After all, with a menu as extensive as HOBNOB’s, you’re going to need a server that will confidently recommend some of the best dishes. The service was truly second to none! HOBNOB sure has it all and succeeds at creating it flawlessly. Whether it be for a bubbly brunch, Thursday BBQ, or a Monday night burger + beer, HOBNOB is just around the corner.
