Since I am not in Thailand, but, yet, I had a craving for authentic Thai cuisine, I stopped by Thai Chili, which is a Thai Select recipient. Located in Brookhaven, Thai Chili is a family-owned and operated restaurant that has been open for over 20 years. Whenever I visit, the staff is so friendly and accommodating. And if you are ever in the mood for great take-out, this is the spot. What I really appreciate about their menu is that there’s an indication of the spiciness of each menu item, from medium to mild to spicy. And since I’m a spicy gal, it’s only appropriate that I go for the spice, baby!

We started the meal with fresh basil rolls. What I liked most about this appetizer was that it was not fried. It was a roll of stuffed roasted pork, shrimp, cucumber, cilantro, basil leaves, and green leaves. All the ingredients are wrapped in rice paper and served with a plum sauce.

No matter how much food I order, I have to order the spicy basil lamb chops. They’re so tender and flavorful. They are my absolute favorite item on the menu. So if you like spice with a hint of basil, this is the dish for you. You’ll love that the portion sizes are very generous.

Next we ordered the spicy catfish and garlic shrimp. Although the fish was fried, it wasn’t greasy. The wild catfish fillets were served with Thai eggplant, bell peppers, Thai basil, and topped with a spicy fresh peppercorn sauce served with steamed jasmine rice. Absolutely delicious is an understatement. The garlic is a must order because the portion is a great size and the dish is perfect is you are trying to eat on the healthier side. The dish is seasoned to perfection and is a must order.
