Lunch In Atlanta,GA: Chicken+Beer

I consider myself a frequent flyer.  So whenever I’m in an airport, I am always looking for a great place to grab a good meal and cocktail before boarding my flight.

I recently visited Chicken+Beer, a cool restaurant located in Concourse D of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.  Named and inspired after his third album, Chicken+Beer, rapper and restaurateur, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, made sure that his establishment would leave his guests satisfied and wanting to come back for more.

Chicken+Beer offers Southern-style comfort food and locally-sourced beers.  I started my meal with a cocktail: The Final Boarding Call.  It was a cocktail with a blend of Espolon Tequila, fresh lime, house-made hibiscus grenadine, and Wild Heaven Emergency Drinking beer.  It was very refreshing, extremely smooth, and well-blended.  No flavor overpowered the other.  To my surprise, I did not taste the beer in this beverage.

One of my favorite menu items was the black- eyed pea hummus appetizer, which I had never had. (And now I am officially addicted to.)  This tasty hummus is served with fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, and radish.  I layered the hummus and pimento cheese on my fried green tomato.  It was simply delightful.  I was really happy I was dining alone, which meant that I didn’t have to share. When you visit, make sure to order two, though.

No matter where I am, I have to try the shrimp and grits.  I was totally impressed with the shrimp and how large and plentiful they were.  And the cheese grits were extremely creamy.  I loved the rue, which had the ideal amount of flavor and spice.  You have the option to add an egg to the shrimp and grits.

Chicken+Beer offers several flights before your flight.  Some of their flights are whiskey flights, beer flights, and scotch flights, and they offer my favorite, Frozé.  You can dine-in or take your meal to-go.  Chicken+Beer is a gem, and I am already looking forward to my next flight.

The next time you’re at the airport, make sure that you visit this hot spot.  And keep up with them on social media:  @chicken_beeratl.
