Red Sky Tapas and Bar on Urbanspoon

As a foodie, my love of good food knows no distance.  I will travel near or far for a great meal, talented chef, or for a unique cocktail.  Great food, great company, and awesome drinks always makes the drive worth it.  So when I was invited out with my foodie friend and fellow food blogger, Milla, (http://happilyeating.com) to Red Sky Tapas in East Cobb, I happily accepted the invite!  I live in Brookhaven, so it was bit of a commute.  But I can definitely say it was well worth it.

Executive chef and partner, Brian Kennington, created a diverse menu filled with incredible salads, sandwiches, flat bread pizzas, tacos, and ribs.  Red Sky specializes in authentic unique tapas.  Their menu consists of large portions of tapas, but plenty of other options.

In addition to dinner, Red Sky Tapas is now offering an extensive lunch menu filled with full-sized versions of some of the most popular items from their dinner menu.  Who doesn’t love brunch and lunch as an option at an awesome restaurant!

Some of their amazing lunch menu  tapas that are must-trys would have to be the Old Faithful Slider with lettuce, tomato, and red onions, and a choice of cheddar, mozzarella, iberico, blue cheese, pepperjack or goat cheese; blackened tilapia tacos topped with crispy slaw and Red Sky’s signature cilantro jalapeno aioli; blackened Ahi tuna salad seared rare and served over spring mix tossed with pico de gallo and pineapple soy vinaigrette topped with a poached egg; “white pizza” with parmesan cream, crispy bacon, fresh portobello mushrooms and shredded mozzarella, and slowed cooked citrus baby back ribs.  I assure you, you will thank me!

Although the dinner menu is served tapas style, lunch items are prepared in full orders.  The majority of lunch entrees range from $7 to $9, with most including a choice of homemade slaw and fries or sweet potato fries.

“Because so many people are coming from work and have a limited time for lunch, we created this menu to feature some unique lunch entrees, but also dishes that we can prepare quickly,” comments Chef Kennington.  “We guarantee that guests will not only enjoy their lunch experience here, but they will be served their lunch in under 20 minutes from the time they order,” concludes Kennington.

Another new addition at Red Sky is their fabulous Sunday brunchmenu featuring some deliciously innovative spins on traditional favorites.  Several of the dishes are available tapas style.  An unusual take on brunch, such as plantains foster waffles featuring Belgium-style waffles topped with coconut fried plantains, buffalo chicken and waffles, lobster cake eggs benedict, and pineapple upside down pancakes.  Brunch tapas range in price between $3.50 and $7.  For those with a heartier appetite, full plates are available on the brunch menu’s “Lunchy Brunchy” section.

Dishes such as a fried green tomatoes BLT, jerk chicken tacos, and housemade chicken pot pie are great for those looking for more savory options.  Bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary’s are offered during Sunday brunch for $14.  Lunch is available Monday through Friday

You must try their lobster & roasted corn dip. It is simply divine and definitely perfect for the fall season.  The creamy lobster dip was, well, creamy! This dish featured plump lobster, roasted corn, jalapeños, onions, and red peppers.

Check out the following dishes:

* Blackened Ahi Tuna.  I love, love, love Siracha.  This appetizer was delish and light.  The mix of Sashimi grade Ahi tuna, blackened pineapple chutney, Siracha, mayo, and lettuce was unique to my tastebuds.  All I kept thinking was this would be perfect with a glass of Pinot Noir.  The pineapple and Siracha was a match made in heaven.

* BBQ beef short ribs:  Try Red Sky’s homemade chipotle barbecue sauce on shredded tender beef short ribs topped with caramelized onions and crispy jicama slaw.

* The Cajun shrimp & grits is seasoned jumbo shrimp over stone ground parmesan grits with tomatoes, jalapeños, roasted red peppers, and cilantro.

* Szechuan chicken wings is a sweet and spicy flavor that will surprise you and have you licking your fingers.  They’re served with fries and blue cheese dressing.

* Tres Leches.  This Red Sky signature dessert is our version of a traditional Latin-American dessert.  It’s a special-occasion, three-milk cake with a touch of dark rum.

* Lobster mac & cheese, which is a Red Sky favorite, has succulent lobster tossed with tempting spicy cream sauce, cheddar cheese, and crispy bacon.

* Calamari served w/ homemade mango salsa and cilantro jalapeño aioli gets two thumbs up from me.
